Open slots and shifts by city, license, and state, so a one-slot high rate is not mistaken for a deep market.

A high hourly rate and a deep market are different facts
On the September 23, 2026 at 10:15 UTC shift board, 332 markets for RN, LPN, and CNA clear a $10/hr floor. GNA, LNA, and STNA are counted with CNA. LVN is counted with LPN. Together they hold 3,764 open slots across 2,665 shifts in 207 cities and 30 states. The ten busiest cities hold 1,577 of those slots (41.9%). 74 markets have a single open slot. A high rate on one of those is a real posting. It is not evidence that the city, or the state, has a deep per-diem board.
The busiest city is Hollidaysburg, PA, with 353 open slots across 205 shifts. The busiest single market is Hollidaysburg, PA CNA: $23.46–$24.84/hr, median $23.63/hr, 229 open slots on 125 shifts. 119 markets have more open slots than distinct shifts. Those markets hold 2,942 open slots. A shift can be posted with more than one unfilled slot. 213 markets have one open slot per shift. The median on the rate tables is the middle hourly rate among shifts, and each shift counts once. Extra slots on the same shift do not pull the median.

How to use the counts
- Start with slots, then read the median. A city with dozens of open slots is a different search than a city with one shift at a high rate.
- The rate on the shift is the rate. This page maps the board. The app shows the hourly rate on the shift you are about to claim.
- Same city, different license. CNA, LPN, and RN rates in one city are separate markets. The three-license city guide lists cities that currently have all three.

Common questions
Does a high slot count mean those shifts pay the high rate?
No. Open slots and the hourly rate are separate columns. In a market where the median equals the low rate, most shifts are at the low number even when the high number is also posted. Check the median column, then the rate on the shift in the app.
Why are there more open slots than shifts?
A shift can be posted with more than one unfilled slot. 119 markets are in that situation and hold 2,942 open slots. 213 markets have the same number of open slots as shifts.
Can I read a state row as the going rate?
No. The state table is a count of open slots and shifts. It mixes cities and licenses. Pick a city and a license before you compare pay.
