Why a three-license city is a different list
Pay-by-city tables answer "what does my license earn here." They hide a practical question: does this town have work for an RN, an LPN, and a CNA in the same week. That matters if you are a CNA in school for an LPN, an LPN in a bridge program, or two people in one household who hold different licenses and need hours in the same place.
On the shift board behind this page, 29 cities currently post all three. Together they hold 1,564 of the 3,831 open RN, LPN, and CNA slots. Hollidaysburg, PA is the deepest right now, with 376 open slots across the three licenses. Rates below are the lowest and highest hourly rates posted in that city for that license today.
Every city with all three licenses open
Each pay figure links to that city's live market page. LVN is folded into LPN. GNA, LNA, and STNA are folded into CNA. A city appears once, even when a license has more than one credential name there.
Slot counts are shifts currently posted for the next 30 days. Markets whose posted minimum is under $10/hr are left out. That filter removes placeholder rates, not real low-wage markets.
The same-city pay ladder
The conservative way to compare two licenses in one city is the bottom of the higher license minus the top of the lower one. If that number is still positive, every currently posted shift at the higher license pays more than every currently posted shift at the lower one. Across these 29 cities, that CNA-to-LPN floor gap is positive in 29 of 29, and the median gap is +$12.50/hr. The LPN-to-RN median floor gap is +$9.27/hr. In 3 of these cities the highest posted LPN rate sits above the lowest posted RN rate, so the conservative LPN-to-RN gap is negative there: Buzzards Bay, MA (−$20.46/hr), New Hampton, IA (−$7.68/hr), Bellevue, IA (−$7.68/hr). In those markets the two posted ranges overlap, so some LPN shifts pay more per hour than some RN shifts on the board the same day.
The ten deepest cities, with those floor gaps:
| City | CNA max to LPN min | LPN max to RN min |
|---|---|---|
| Hollidaysburg, PA | +$12.30/hr | +$9.66/hr |
| Gettysburg, PA | +$1.38/hr | +$12.42/hr |
| Buzzards Bay, MA | +$9.30/hr | −$20.46/hr |
| Huntington, NY | +$12.73/hr | +$11.39/hr |
| Waupaca, WI | +$13.80/hr | +$11.04/hr |
| Decorah, IA | +$9.92/hr | +$0.00/hr |
| New Hampton, IA | +$2.24/hr | −$7.68/hr |
| Cedar Rapids, IA | +$9.92/hr | +$0.00/hr |
| Huntingdon, PA | +$8.28/hr | +$6.90/hr |
| Kennebunk, ME | +$13.50/hr | +$12.42/hr |
City-by-city pair tables, including cities that have only two of the three licenses, are in the CNA-to-LPN and LPN-to-RN bridge guides. National rate tables are in the CNA, LPN, and RN pay-by-city guides.
States where all three exist, even in different cities
14 of the 31 states with a live RN, LPN, or CNA market currently have all three licenses posted somewhere in the state: Colorado, Connecticut, Iowa, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin. Some of those states spread the three licenses across different cities. Use the table above when the commute has to work for more than one license. The pay-by-state guide has the full state ranges.
Working across a state line is a license question, not an app question. RNs and LPNs should read the Nurse Licensure Compact guide. CNAs should read the reciprocity guide before counting on a neighboring state's shifts.
Common questions
Does "open in this city" mean I can book tomorrow?
It means shifts for that license are posted in that city right now. Dates, credentials, and how many people claim a shift all change through the day. The app is the live list. This page is the map of where that list currently has all three licenses.
Why is the high RN number so far above the low one in some cities?
The range is the lowest and highest hourly rate posted in that city for that license. Weekend, night, and hard-to-fill dates sit at the top. Other shifts sit at the bottom. Compare a shift you are about to book with the low number first. The night-shift guide and the weekend and holiday guide explain how those higher rates show up.
I only hold one of these licenses. Is this page still useful?
Yes. A city with all three licenses posting is usually a deeper pool than a city with a single role, and the other two columns tell you what the next license pays in the same town. If you only need your own license, the pay-by-city guides list every market, including cities that are missing from this page because one of the other two licenses is quiet today.
How do I see the actual shifts?
Download the AllShifts app (iPhone / Android), add your license and credentials, and the app shows the shifts your file qualifies for. Posted rates are on the shift before you claim it. Pay is W-2, and instant pay sends your net after the shift is verified. The W-2 vs 1099 guide covers why that status matters.
